The Bridge Scholarship
The Bridge Scholarship is a four-year financial aid package awarded annually to a high school senior, male or female, from any one of the high schools, public or private, located in Mecklenburg County. The Bridge Scholarship will be presented annually to the individual who can best present his or her need for financial aid in order to achieve a specific goal or participate in a particular program at any accredited college or university in the United States of America. There are no minimal requirements, academic, athletic or extracurricular; however, each applicant must be accepted to their chosen institution prior to the award of any financial aid. Applicants must present their intentions in a clear, concise and cogent manner what their goals are for the upcoming four-year period, how they plan to achieve those goals and why they have chosen the particular program or institution they plan on attending. The Holcomb Family Scholarship
Scholarship is awarded based on financial need, academic merit and ability, involvement in school and community activities and leadership ability. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Scholarships range up to $5,000. Applications due on March 1st, 2019. See website for more details:

Rice University
Rice University officials announced Tuesday they will provide full tuition scholarships to undergraduate domestic students from low- and middle-income backgrounds starting in the fall of 2019, the latest effort by a major university to respond to rising concerns about soaring higher-education costs and burdensome student debt. The new financial plan, The Rice Investment, will allow full-tuition scholarships and grants to be offered to undergraduate students whose family incomes fall between $65,000 and $130,000 a year and who qualify for need-based financial aid, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the university.
UNC-Greensboro Guarantee
This scholarship helps North Carolina high school graduates with family incomes at or below the poverty line graduate from UNCG with little or no debt In order to be eligible for the UNCG Guarantee, the student must meet all of the following criteria:

- Have been admitted to UNCG at the time of applying
- North Carolina resident for tuition purposes
- Received a combined SAT score of a 1000 or above on the Critical Reading and Mathematics sections or an ACT composite score of 21 of above
- Have a family income that does not exceed 100% of the federal poverty level
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and qualify for federal student financial aid
- Pursuing a first undergraduate degree
- Graduated from high school within the past six months of your first enrollment at UNCG
- Be enrolled full-time during the regular academic year
